Words of comfort

You shall not walk alone!

Those were the words of comfort Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley said to her colleague and Minister of Education Santia Bradshaw when she announced to her constituents that she had tested positive for breast cancer.

Bradshaw, 42, made the announcement last evening at a meeting of the St Michael South East constituency at the Parkinson Resource Centre.

Bradshaw, who retained her seat for the Barbados Labour Party in the May 24 clean sweep, told supporters of her medical condition, while delivering her constituency report.

The Leader of Government Business in the House of Assembly said she had found a lump in her breast, which a few days ago had tested positive for cancer.

She reported that she would have to undergo treatment and would therefore be travelling.

A confident Bradshaw, dressed in an earth tone print dress complemented with nude coloured patent heels and dreadlocks neatly styled in her trademark top bun, told constituents she would be fighting this cancer just as she had fought other obstacles she faced in her life. (CM)
