Gym changes ‘will help sport’

Transforming the facilities at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex into a major hub could bring relief to many of the island’s sporting federations without a home.

That is the view of acting president of the Barbados Badminton Association (BBA) Kevin Wood.

“Short or long term, if we decide to do something, what should happen is that in general we have sufficient land in this area that is not being used that I think we should look at trying to acquire,” he said.

The former national badminton champion believes that approach will also decrease the strain on the gymnasium for training sessions, leaving its use mainly for major competitions. (RG)
