Residents in Crab Hill, St Lucy, have welcomed the measures taken by the Royal Barbados Police Force to make their district safe again.
On Friday, members of the Royal Barbados Police Force and the Barbados Defence Force descended on the area launching a 2 a.m. stop and search operation. They searched everything and anything attempting to make their way in and out of the district.
That operation came in the wake of a recent rise in violence in the area, including two separate shootings which left one man dead and some injured.
Most residents were hesitant to speak to The Nation and those who did requested anonymity in fear of being targeted.
One woman said she was glad to see the police in the area, attempting to “rid the area of the troublemakers”. (DB)
