Cricket will be making its much-awaited return to North Stars on Saturday as St John Cultural have agreed to play their Second Division fixture at the Crab Hill club a month after gunshots prematurely ended a match.

Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) director of cricket Steven Leslie confirmed the development in a telephone interview.

Visiting clubs and organisers had stayed away from the popular ground due to concerns over the rising violence in the St Lucy community.

“We do believe the safety of the players and all the stakeholders is critical to us and from that stance the BCA sought some clarity from the Royal Barbados Police Force,” Leslie said. (JM)
