THE MAN who owns the popular Souse Factory in Cliff Land, St John, is today thanking God his life was spared after fire badly damaged the business and destroyed the adjoining home.

And a determined Neville DaCosta Went also wants his loyal customers to know that despite his loss, the Souse Factory is still up and running.

“The souse factory is still going on Thursdays and Saturdays, so my customers can still come out. And don’t believe people saying I was close; I was never close,” he said following the early morning blaze.

“I had a bad period when my family passed on, and my entire wife and kids, but I am still intact, so don’t mind people talking a lot of crap. I here and thank God I wasn’t in the house; if not, I would probably be gone, but praise God He helping me today. I lose everything, but I got life; I would get back there again,” he told the MIDWEEK NATION.

Went, who began the eatery in 1984, said he was not at home when the fire started.  “I was out having a drink down at Esmee’s Bar, just down the gap. I told one of my workers she can’t stand home Old Year’s, so I pick her up and gone down there to have a drink. That was about around 11.” (RA)
