Former United Progressive Party (UPP) campaign manager Ambrose Grosvenor is among three candidates the party has named for the next general election.

He will be contesting the St George North constituency, while Wayne Griffith will be making a second bid in St Lucy and Everton Holligan has made the switch from St George North to South.

Grosvenor said people saw the UPP as a credible alternative to the current administration and several people had asked him to contest the riding, which is currently held by veteran Barbados Labour Party parliamentarian Gline Clarke.

“I have the interest of St George North people at heart and I have demonstrated that. I live what I call the St George experience every day, having spent my entire life in St George, barring about three years,” he said.

Areas of concern include poor transportation, infrequent garbage collection and deplorable roads in the constituency, including the one which runs from his hometown Sweet Bottom to Groves.

Last year party leader Lynette Eastmond said all of the seats were vacant and the UPP would go through the nomination process to pick its candidates. She said they had four or five years to work in a constituency and demonstrate their interest. (PR/SAT)
