Police have confirmed that the foetus discovered in the garbage this morning at Bishop’s Court Hill, St Michael is that of a monkey.

Initially the detectives were called to the scene to investigate a report of sanitation workers finding a foetus in a garbage truck.

A medical doctor arrived to carry out an examination and pronounced death but some time later it was reported that the foetus was not human at all.

A thorough search of the garbage turned up a female monkey in a bag which appeared to have been pregnant at the time of death and after being compressed in the compactor, the foetus came out.

Police public relations officer Inspector Rodney Inniss confirmed that the foetus was not that of a human. (AC)
