The race is on for a new executive committee of the National Union of Public Workers as elections takes place today.

Those running for president are Joy-Ann Innis from the Ministry of Education, Fabian Jones from the Welfare Department, Verrol Scott from the Barbados Community College, while current president Akanni McDowall is hoping to retain his position.

It was a slow morning for votes however, as up to midday only 14 people turned up to cast their votes at the NUPW headquarters in Dalkeith, St Michael. (SB)
