Lie detector testing is helping the Barbados Coast Guard weed out corruption among its ranks.

The man at the helm, Commander Mark Peterson, said this measure was essential because the organisation was a law enforcement entity.

“It is not a foolproof method but it provides a basis for further and more detailed investigation,” he said during an interview with the Weekend Nation.

Peterson’s comments came as the Barbados Defence Force (BDF) began the first of three courts martial at its St Ann’s Fort, Garrison, St Michael headquarters on Wednesday.  (SDB Media)
