Barbadians will be getting more opportunities to build, and grow produce in once restricted areas.

It is being promised through a new zoning policy which will see nearly half of the previously restricted Zone 1 being released for agricultural and housing development.

The policy was revealed on Thursday by Minister of Water Resources and Energy Wilfred Abrahams during a post-Cabinet press conference at Government Headquarters, Bay Street, St Michael.

This move is also expected to have a positive result for scores of people living in The Belle, St Michael, which has been earmarked for a special sewer project. The area houses one of Barbados’ largest squatter settlements. (BA)
