Accra boost

Accra Beach, a popular bathing spot for both locals and tourists, is in for a major facelift, including the construction of a public beach club.

Located along the tourist belt at Rockley, Christ Church, it is being included in the US$50 million redevelopment of the Blue Horizon Hotel, which stands less than 100 metres from the beach. 

philip-temproHowever, some residents and seabathers have expressed concern about what they see as tampering with the beach by private developers and are petitioning the Town and Country Planning Department not to let the work proceed until more information is forthcoming.

But Philip Tempro (left), of Blue Tourism Inc., developers of the project, who purchased the hotel two years ago from Government, sought to allay these fears yesterday. (MB)
