New code for students

Parents will have a more critical role to play in the discipline of their children at secondary schools.

For the first time, schools will be required to hold “parent conferences” at almost every stage of the disciplinary process.

This is one of the new measures contained in the draft Barbados School Code Of Conduct, a copy of which was obtained by the Sunday Sun.

The document notes: “Any individual behaviour plan written for a student must be shared with the relevant parents/guardians.” (MB)
