Barbadians on the southern side of the island are starting to experience the effects of approaching Tropical Storm Dorian.
With preparations as complete as they can be at this time, residents are now awaiting the approach of the weather system which is expected to affect the country tonight.
All forecasts have the track to the southern part of the island, and late this evening, overcast skies gave way to a beautiful sunset. Even as the rain began to drizzle, some residents in Ealing Park stepped outside to see the double rainbow which ringed the sky to the east.
The wind speed has also increased.Â
Over in Kingsland, it was also raining and lightning lit up the evening sky.
In Tichbourne and Black Rock, St Michael, the sky was lit by a bright orange glow as the sun set.
Earlier, members of the public called the Starcom Network to chat with announcer Larry Mayers and provide weather updates from their locations.
St Lucy was clear and sunny with some wind, St Peter was also clear, and in Bush Hall, St Michael, it was cloudy and hazy with some rain.
A caller from St John said the wind was also picking up there.
The Met Office is forecasting rain between 4 and 6 inches and flash-flooding is likely in low-lying areas.
Large waves and dangerous rip tides can be expected and will create unsafe conditions for small craft operators and fishermen. Sea bathers are advised to stay out of the water. (SAT)
