President Randy Harris has reiterated the Barbados Football Association’s (BFA) stance against violence and has called on invested parties to play their part in moulding the future generation.
“The football association is concerned with the recent spates of violence, especially gun violence, as we have member clubs from most of the areas where these kinds of things are happening,” he said.
“We want our young people to be able to come out to football and enjoy themselves without being traumatised or without being afraid, and it is time enough that the underworld stop with these acts because this is an island that we invite people to and we cannot allow this to continue.”
Harris was speaking last Saturday at the conclusion of a motorcade to honour the top flight teams of the association as well as make known their goals and objectives for the coming year.
The motorcade commenced at the Police Sports Club at Weymouth, St Michael, and travelled first to Deacons in the same parish, and from there journeyed to the homes of all the remaining Premier League teams with their penultimate stop in Ellerton, St George, before completing the trip at Carrington Village, in St Michael, the home of Weymouth Wales, and making the return to the Weymouth ground.
