Pride rattled by break-in

The Barbados Pride cricket team and coaching staff were robbed of clothing and equipment in St Kitts yesterday following a daring overnight burglary in the players’ pavilion at the Warner Park ground.

As a result, yesterday’s opening day of the fourth-round match in the West Indies Four-Day Championship against the Leeward Islands Hurricanes was hastily abandoned without a ball being bowled.

The four-day match has now been rescheduled to start today at 10 a.m. and will end on Monday instead of Sunday.

Barbados Pride manager Wendell Coppin told the Weekend Nation that when they arrived at the ground at 8:30 a.m. they discovered that “every single bag in the dressing room was attacked” and “things were scattered all over the place”. (EZS)
