The fuel clause adjustment (FCA) is the lowest it has been in more than a year, as announced among measures by the Barbados Light and Power Co. Ltd to give customers an ease at this time.
In a release, Manager Customer Care Rodney Dottin said: “The FCA for the month of April is 24.1235 cents per kWh, down from 28.0810 cents in March, a decrease of 17 per cent; the lowest FCA for 2020, and as a matter of fact, for the entire 2019 year as well.”
Dottin said they were also working with the Welfare Department to help families in need, they have temporarily suspended disconnections for non-payment and will offer assistance through bill payment extensions and bill payment plans for both residential and business customers.
“However, we do encourage you to stay as current as possible on your electricity bills to avoid accumulating a large balance in the longer term,” he advised.
Members of the public have also been asked to be energy smart at this time, since so many people are at home, or working from home.
“We encourage you to be mindful of your usage to manage cost in the end. Ensure that you are turning off lights, electronics and equipment when not in use, and conserve energy whenever possible.”
Dottin acknowledged what the world is facing in the COVID-19 pandemic is “unprecedented” and they are doing their part to safeguard the health and wellness of all.
Meanwhile, he said customers may also not receive a printed bill in the traditional post. They are asked to call the company or check online for automated balances, and payments can also be made online. (PR/SAT)
