Hundreds sit exam at Graydon Sealy, Parkinson

Scores of parents descended on the Graydon Sealy Secondary School this morning to see their young charges report for this year’s Barbados Secondary Schools Entrance Examination.

While some parents said they were nervous, some said they had the confidence their child would do the best they could.

Acting deputy principal Shyrelle Howard-Gittens said there were 238 students from Unique and Imperial Private School, Arthur Smith Primary, St Lawrence Primary, St Paul’s Primary and Bay Primary School.

Parents were not allowed on the compound, so they waited outside the Graydon Sealy Secondary School

Member of Parliament for St Michael South, Kirk Humphrey, and head of the D.A.R.E Programme, Inspector Roland Cobbler, were on hand to give the students well wishes ahead of the exam.

Over at Parkinson Memorial, students settled in nicely after Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for St Michael South East, Santia Bradshaw, also gave them words of encouragement ahead of today’s exam.

Acting deputy principal Captain Adrian Ward reported of the 167 students listed to do the exam, 165 had arrived, with one reporting absent and the other unaccounted for at the start.

Students from Grantley Prescod Memorial Primary, Wilkie Cumberbatch Primary, Belmont Primary and the Irving Wilson School sat the exam there. (RA)
