Marjorie’s Dream and master jockey Patrick Husbands combined to give Barbadian trainer Randy Thompson his first Stakes win at Woodbine in Canada, yesterday.
The three-year-old chestnut filly, which went off as favourite took the CAN $135 000 Algoma Stakes over seven furlongs, by a head in a time of one minute, 23.26 seconds.
Thompson, who hails from Browne’s Gap, Rockley, Christ Church, moved to Canada 20 years ago and has been a trainer for eight years.
“It was amazing. It was a very long way. She is a special horse. She is a fighter,” said Thompson, speaking to NATIONSPORT from Toronto, last night.
