The National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) is hoping to see some tweaks to Government’s public health protocols in the coming weeks, which could ease some of the anxiety being felt by front-line workers.
Acting deputy general secretary Wayne Walrond told the DAILY NATION yesterday that in particular, workers employed at the National Assistance Board were sensitive to their level of exposure in the workplace, since that state entity was affected by a cluster of the COVID-19 virus last year.
He said though the workforce had some concerns, the union was intent on letting Government lead the way in protecting citizens, and had no plans to stage industrial action to settle their issues.
He also cited as malicious and fake a WhatsApp message which was sent out to union members yesterday, asking them to call in sick on Wednesday. (BA)
