A memorial has been set up along Maxwell Main Road, Christ Church, in honour of Melanie Watts who died in March.

The 36-year-old cyclist died after a collision on that road.

During a short ceremony representatives of the Barbados Bike Hash House Harriers said they hoped to increase awareness about road safety and urged motorists to be more careful.

The memorial includes a white bicycle, which was attached to a post, along with a photograph of Watts and a floral arrangement.

Head of Barbados Bike Hash House Harriers Francie Ammon said they intended to set up other memorials to honour some of the other people who lost their lives on the road this year. (TG)
