Some residents of St John, St Peter, St Andrew and St Joseph received water yesterday, thanks to the St John District Emergency Organisation (DEO) and the Mount Zion Missions.

Representatives of the two organisations were out and about in the parishes giving out bottles of water to people whose taps were dry.

In the first instance, chairman of the St John DEO, John Haynes, said the donation was in collaboration with the Barbados Bottling Company Ltd (BBC) and was an initiative of the DEO’s vulnerable people committee.

“The BBC donated 50 cases of water, each holding 24 bottles, to be distributed to those who are water-affected in the parish. We went through our database of vulnerable people and we selected those who are living alone or do not have someone to care for them 24 hours a day,” he said. (CA)
