MP’s beach call

The country’s Chief Town Planner has been urged to act on the situation at Fitt’s Village, St James, where an argument has arisen about beach access.

The call was made yesterday by Member of Parliament for St James Central Kerrie Symmonds, who said that all Barbadians must continue to have access to beaches.

While noting that the Town & Country Development Planning Office gave permission for construction on where Cyrus Bar/Crystal’s Bar and Bistro once stood on the popular beach spot along Barbados’ West Coast, Symmonds said a visit would be worthwhile to appease all involved.

He made the suggestion during the reopening ceremony of Payne’s Bay Fish Market.

During his address, Symmonds also reminded the developer of the terms of their contract and suggested that he was not satisfied with the way the area looks. (TG)
