Trinidad and Tobago will be hosting the 2024 Massy Women Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) from August 21 to 29.

For the first time in the competition’s history, it will be a standalone tournament taking place before the men’s Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League and remains a three team affair comprising defending champions Barbados Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinbago Knight Riders.

Speaking at the announcement, Chief Executive Officer of the Caribbean Premier League Pete Russell said “We would like to thank Trinidad and Tobago for agreeing to host this tournament and we are excited to be having the Massy WCPL taking place before we get the men’s tournament underway. The commitment that the Trinidad and Tobago government has shown to women’s sport has been phenomenal and we are looking forward to another superb exhibition of world class cricket over these seven matches from August 21 to 29.”

Trinidad’s Minister of Sport and Community Development Shamfa Cudjoe-Lewis echoed those sentiments saying “We are delighted to host once again the Massy Women’s Caribbean Premier League where the extraordinary talent of women in sport across the region will be showcased. This tournament highlights the incredible skills of our female cricketers and underscores Trinidad and Tobago’s unwavering commitment to promoting gender equality and fostering inclusivity in sport.”

Last year’s WCPL set a new record for viewership numbers in 2023 with the total broadcast and digital viewership reaching 36.2 million for the expanded tournament which took place in Barbados and Trinidad.

The seven match competition also saw a 45% rise in viewership with an increase in the number of international fans tuning in for the second season.

Trinbago Knight Riders beat Barbados Royals by ten runs to win the inaugural edition in 2022 while Barbados Royals captured last year’s title with an eight run victory over Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad.
