Supermarket food price war is on

BASIC FOOD ITEMS in Barbados should soon cost less.

The price cuts will follow as the major supermarket chains seek to compete with Massy Stores’ new cost-cutting programme called Pocket Sense, which has slashed prices on most basic items.

Launched on February 25, Pocket Sense now boasts a basket of mostly 50 grocery items with price cuts as low as seven cents to as high as $9.26. But 17 of the items have been reduced by one dollar or more. (SP)
