BARBADOS PRIDE had to settle for a draw after setting Windward Islands Volcanoes 231 runs for victory from a minimum 31 overs when their ninth-round contest in the WICB Professional Cricket League (PCL) ended at Kensington Oval yesterday.
With captain Kraigg Brathwaite depending on his spinners to push for victory after a bold declaration, the hosts bowled 45 overs, 14 more than the required minimum, but the Volcanoes limped to 101 for six.
Captain Liam Sebastian was the last casualty when he offered no stroke to a delivery from left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican and was bowled behind his back. Warrican took five for 29.
Each team earned eight points, with Barbados Pride scoring 420 all out and 167 for five declared. Windward Islands Volcanoes made 416 and 101 for six.
The result confirmed Guyana as champions of the inaugural PCL four-day championship. (PH)
