NAPIER – Cloudy skies, consistent rain and damp conditions were not only the order of the day at Nelson Park yesterday, but it seems to be on the menu for the next three days ahead of West Indies’ crucial final preliminary match in the ICC Cricket World Cup.
The bad weather forced the Windies to abort their practice session, which got under way with their regular football scrimmage, before showers forced the ground staff to cover the practice pitches and ran the players under the tents before they called it a day.
It was the weather forecast that the team didn’t want to hear, with rain predicted for the weekend, which could hamper their match against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that they need to win if they stand a chance of qualification to the quarter-finals of the tournament.
