OUTSPOKEN BUSINESSMAN Ralph “Bizzy” Williams is unhappy about the length of time it is taking for Government for open up the electricity market to competition.

The Williams Industries Inc. chairman wants Government to speedily implement promised legislation to allow the entry of independent power producers, saying that contrary to what he heard were concerns from Barbados Light & Power that such a step could harm the grid, it would be a plus for Barbados.

He voiced his concerns while participating in the Cave Hill School of Business’ Big Ideas Forum today. Williams said Government and the Fair Trading Commission should not be swayed by the views of the BL&P and that Barbados had all of the ingredients to produce all of its energy from the sun and wind.
