Gems undone by poor umpiring

Barbados Netball Association (BNA) president Nisha Craigwell hit out at the quality of the officiating in their final game of the Vitality Netball World Cup after losing to Scotland in Liverpool yesterday.

The Gems sparkled briefly, but faded to end 12th after a 42-53 defeat to the Scots.

The Bajans were not blown away by the world ranked eighth team, as many of the fans in the stands felt the gust affecting the outcome of the match came from the inconsistent officials.

While several past greats from Barbados were almost at the point of tears, the Scottish fans repeatedly booed the officials.

After the contest, Craigwell showed no romantic feelings for the officiating. (KB)
