ADULT CLUBS where women, particularly non-nationals, are the main attraction, may have been dubbed gentlemen’s clubs and places of relaxation by some, but the Royal Barbados Police Force has a dim view of them.

Acting Assistant Commissioner in charge of crime, Mark Thompson, promising a continued crackdown on the operations, told the DAILY NATION yesterday: “People who are performing are being robbed of their human dignity.”

His comments followed last weekend’s raid of the adult night spot Club Rehab, in Fontabelle, St Michael, where 21 Jamaican women, a Guyanese and a Barbadian were among a group of dancers detained during a joint operation conducted by police and immigration authorities.

Investigations were reportedly centred on allegations of human trafficking. Lawmen were up to yesterday still questioning a number of people, including employees of the adult club.
