Students go ‘back to Africa’

THE COMMUNITIES surrounding Bay Primary School were again treated to young, exuberant voices loudly chanting in celebration of African Awareness Day yesterday.

The students marched along Culloden Road and St Paul’s Avenue bedecked in African garb and accompanied by a lively shaggy bear as well as a tuk band.

Chairman of the special events committee, Dionna Browne, said: “We wanted to go back to where it all started. We will offer the children dishes such as yam balls, split pea cou cou and roast breadfruit so they will really get a taste of Africa.” (CA)
