RBPF gets passing grade

A NEW public opinion survey shows that Barbadians generally think the Royal Barbados Police Force is doing a good job.

But hardly any department has escaped severe criticism from the public in the survey conducted by the Criminal Justice Research and Planning Unit.

The findings released by senior research officer Kim Ramsay showed a large volume of complaints about police allegedly being too aggressive towards the public, using force to get confessions from crime suspects and responding slowly to calls for assistance.

Acting Commissioner of Police Tyrone Griffith said the findings indicated there was quite a bit of room for improvement in the Force but overall the results of the probe spoke well of the agency. (TY)
