Rockin’ Music Festival

THE ONLY PEOPLE DISAPPOINTED on Saturday night were those who didn’t attend the Naniki Music Festival at Holder’s House.

Billed as Echoes Of The Caribbean, it featured Albert Olton (Barbados) and Maxi Priest (British/Jamaican). Both did everything they could to shake the foundation of the historic grounds.

What fans got was a more than three-hour show (with half-hour intermission) and over 40 songs, albeit the last 14 being just snippets of first verses in Maxi’s set.

First up was Olton, and while he doesn’t have the albums and recognition of Maxi, he has some strong conscious lyrics and good stage presence.

With Revelation, his backing band of six that included Tony Rebel Bailey and Onika Best on congos, he played to a decent crowd that was slowly filling the venue, bogged down with stools, chairs and blankets.
