Cavs, the President’s men

It’s the little things that count. Just ask the Station Hill Cavaliers.

They may not be the prettiest group at the party, but they paid attention to detail when it mattered most Friday night and took home the prettiest thing on show.

The Cavs scored their free throws, kept their turnovers down to a minimum in the final three minutes, and captured the Barbados Amateur Basketball Association’s 2019 President’s Cup with a hard earned 77-73 win over arch-rivals Burger King Clapham Bulls in a see-saw final at the Wildey Gymnasium.

It was the Cavs’ fourth straight knockout title, and they became the first team to beat the Bulls in either league or knockout competition this season.

“This team is maturing before our eyes. They aren’t given much credit and I don’t know why, but they have worked really hard in the last year,” veteran Cavs coach Adrian Craigwell said after the win, before joining his high-fiving charges on the court to lift the trophy. (BA)
