Householders across the country can expect at least one garbage collection before Christmas Day – 48 hours away.
The news follows complaints islandwide about the piles of garbage going into the last lap of traditional house-clearing before the big day.
For weeks the Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) has been struggling to remove mounds of trash on the streets and outside the doors of householders, leading to an unsightly landscape in the tourist destination. But reports are that the ailing fleet of about 16 vehicles has been bumped up to about 25.
The first sign of that was yesterday when the SSA spent the morning cleaning the Eden Lodge, St Michael district after it was highlighted on the Back Page of yesterday’s DAILY NATION.
