Positive leaders missing

A SENIOR POLICE OFFICER today complained that not enough “positive leaders” were coming forward to help communities facing social challenges.

Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Erwin Boyce said leaders with a negative influence could be found, telling people they did not need a job to get money and pushing the “get now” agenda.

According to Boyce, an audit done by the police in a number of communities showed that “we are coming up short of positive leaders”.

He made the comments at a graduation ceremony for students from the New Orleans, Bridgetown area ranging in age from five to 14 years, following a study programme sponsored by the police and the Pan American International Insurance Corporation. (TY)
