THE BARBADOS UNION OF TEACHERS today urged the Ministry of Education to work to bring peace and order to the Alma Parris Memorial Secondary School.
President of the union Pedro Shepherd complained there was “total chaos” at the school, with students fighting almost hourly and sharp differences between teachers and principal Valdez Francis over the way the institution is being run.
Shepherd said the BUT’s members at the school were “feeling pressurised” and that they “have had enough”. He reported that the union was calling for a final meeting with senior officials of the Ministry of Education to deal with the problems before it settled on its own unspecified corrective measures.
Shepherd was addressing a media conference at the union’s Welches, St Michael headquarters. (TY)
