Teachers at Alma Parris Memorial Secondary School will not be in the classroom when school is called this morning.
And the MIDWEEK NATION understands it will be the third time for this Michaelmas term that school there will be interrupted.
In confirming today’s meeting, president of the Barbados Union of Teachers (BUT), Pedro Shepherd, made it clear the teachers are not withdrawing their labour. Rather, they will be attending a meeting at the union’s Merryhill, Welches, St Michael headquarters from 9:30 a.m.
This newspaper has been reliably informed that school was closed on October 23 and 24 as well, but the reasons are unclear.
When quizzed about the closure, Shepherd said it was his understanding that inclement weather factored into the closure on the first day, but he wasn’t sure about the second.
