THE BARBADOS ASSOCIATION of Medical Practitioners (BAMP) has called for a $2 million limit on malpractice claims.

It also wants the time frame in which such claims must be officially filed restricted to three years.

BAMP’s position was set out by president Dr Carlos Chase yesterday when he addressed the second Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) health care financing conference at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.

He said the proposed changes to local laws would help fight “out-of-control health care costs”.
