Blazing Bayley’s Primary School gave inspirational coach Winfield Forde the perfect retirement gift, while St Giles Conquerors once more reaped the sweets for their hard work and never say die attitude.

Both Forde and former CARIFTA Games gold medallist Nikkisha Maynard, who directed the strategy for St Giles girls, pointed to a solid development programme and a strong backroom staff for their rousing success at Tuesday’s finals of the National Primary Schools Athletic Championships (NAPSAC) at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex.

Having dominated the Herman Griffith Primary Schools cricket competition for the past few years, Bayley’s is now at the pinnacle of primary schools boys track for the second time in the last three years.

Bayley’s and St Giles shared the spoils before hundreds of fans that included 1960 Rome Olympics bronze medallist Jim Wedderburn. (MK)
