A NIGERIAN-BORN British national has been fined a total of $25 000 for allegedly attempting to bring one kilogramme of cocaine into Barbados.
Thirty-five-year-old Cele Aniche arrived by air from Trinidad on August 4 in transit to London and was interviewed by police. They referred him to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where they say he passed out 52 packets of the drug.
He appeared in the District “B” Magistrates’ Court today and was fined $15 000 for possession and $10 000 for trafficking.
He was reprimanded and discharged on the charge of possession with intent to supply and convicted, reprimanded and discharged on the charge of importation.
If he does not pay the fine, he will face a total of 36 month in prison. (PR/NB)
