GEORGETOWN – Jamaica launched the defence of their title by crushing Barbados while Trinidad and Tobago humbled ICC Americas, in the opening round of the Regional Under-19 One-Day Championship yesterday.
Playing at Bourda, Jamaica used a telling bowling performance to beat the Barbadians by eight wickets, in a lopsided contest.
Opting to bat first, Barbados crumbled to 97 all out off 36.4 overs with Jonathan Drakes, batting at number four, finishing on 33 not out.
Seamer Odean Smith was the best bowler with four for 27.
In reply, Jamaica lost Odaine McCatty lbw without scoring with just three on the board as the opener played across one from Tarik Shorey.
