The Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA) is advising all pensioners who receive a contributory pension to register in the new Tax Administration Management Information System (TAMIS) by March 31, 2019.
However, pensioners who receive a non-contributory pension are not required to register in TAMIS. This is the word from BRA Communications Officer, Erica Lazare, who revealed that many contributory pensioners are yet to register in the new tax system to receive their new Tax Identification Number (TIN).
“Having done our checks, we have realized that although some contributory pensioners have already registered online in TAMIS either by themselves or with the help of a family member, there are many who are yet to register.
“This new TIN is important because they will not be able to file their returns come April without it,” she asserted. Ms. Lazare added that contributory pensioners who receive income over $40,000 a year, from whatever source, whether locally or internationally, will be required to file Personal Income Tax returns in TAMIS when filing season begins in April 2019.
She is also reminding contributory pensioners that they require the following items to register in TAMIS: an email address, national registration number and a contact number. Contributory pensioners may register online at https://tamis.bra.gov.bb, or receive assistance at one of the BRA’s four customer service locations at the Holetown Public Centre, Holetown; Warrens Tower II, Warrens; Treasury Building, Bridgetown and Weymouth Corporate Centre, Roebuck Street.
