Caribbean Catalyst is closer to identifying the best employers of Barbados for 2012.
Managing director Rosalind Jackson said the judging of Barbados’ Best Employers 2012 is expected to take place within another month or so.
The Barbados’ Best Employers programme is produced by Caribbean Catalyst Inc. in partnership with BARBADOS BUSINESS AUTHORITY and the Nation Publishing Company. It was launched in May 2010.
It is open to public and private sector companies of all sizes to highlight practices that improve productivity and innovation. It is also intended to identify organizations with the best practices and ascertain why they are the best.
A team from Caribbean Catalyst assessed the human resource practices of applicants through interviews with management and feedback from staff via surveys.
Jackson said they were almost finished collecting data from companies in all the categories and the response has been tremendous so far.
“The companies are keen to participate and many of them are expressing desires to win. We completed all the management interviews in the medium category and we are now in the field doing the survey,” she said.
“We are doing large-category companies as well. A lot of people are doing the survey electronically and that makes it a lot easier. So in the large-category companies, we are working a lot with the staff so we can get as close to 100 per cent participation as possible.
“We are still doing the field work and once that is over, we will start the analysis and prepare for the judging. So the judging and naming of finalists will happen around late May or early June,” reported Jackson, saying that the state at which they were conducting surveys was “satisfactory”.
The judging will be done by a panel of independent judges.
More than 30 companies were signed up for the programme – over 11 in each category.
There will be one winner in each category.
The winners will be announced during the awards luncheon which is expected to come off on June 28. (MM)
