It’s official!
After Minister of Education Ronald Jones blasted the media for “pervasive negativity” two weeks ago, Chief Education Officer Laurie King has told principals and teachers they must all seek permission from the ministry before talking to media personnel.
In a comprehensive circular sent out this week and dated September 16, King warned school personnel it would serve as a precursor to a single document of guidance for principals and teachers now being worked on by the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation.
“Principals, teachers and other school personnel must seek permission before engaging the media in matters relating to the function, operation, policies or procedures of the schools, or the Ministry of Education . . . ,” King said in the document.
