The Nation’s Online Editor Carol Martindale looks at What’s Trending today in Barbados.
Grantley Adams International Airport is the subject trending today.
Online readers have been commenting on the negative reviews which the Barbados airport is getting from some visitors on some websites.
They are particularly critical about the attitude of Customs and Immigration officers.’
Jackie Willoughby: “I have never had a pleasant tie flying in or out of Grantley Adams. The airlines’ agents just seem to be there for money and the Immigration officers are mean and unfriendly. They can do their job but as it is often said, unfortunately, that unless you are white when you fly into the Caribbean it’s rare that you would receive any grand welcome.”
Sharon Woolley: “After an eight hour flight some passengers are also grumpy, but what was written is true of “some” immigration staff, others have a friendly smile and a warm welcome.”
Sandra Mcleavy: “We come to Barbados every year and just think staff are getting worse. Up to two hours we have waited in a queue to hand in a form. The airport needs to realize people arriving from England have travelled eight hours on a plane. I could go on but why? We all know it needs sorting out now rather than later.”
Dave Payne: “Customer service needs to be introduced at the airport. We do live in the 21st century.”
