QEH collects $60 000 so far

THE?QUEEN?ELIZABETH?HOSPITAL?(QEH) has been settling with insurance companies over payment for patients injured in vehicular accidents.
Minister of Health Donville Inniss said two months after instituting the policy requiring people who were involved in accidents to repay the hospital through insurance settlements for their treatment, the hospital had collected $60 000 from insurance companies.
He made the disclosure during yesterday’s parliamentary debate on a loan of $35 million for roadworks and infrastructure.
Recalling that he had received lots of “condemnation” for instituting the policy, Inniss reiterated that individuals in road accidents were placing financial pressure on the services of the hospital. (MB)
