Businesses are being urged to keep their commodities at reasonable prices and to maintain staff as they seek to increase sales during the busy Christmas shopping period.
Speaking during the official launch of the General Store of The People’s Market in Tudor Bridge, St Michael, yesterday,
Minister of Commerce and Trade Senator Haynesley Benn also called on businesses to reduce prices where possible.
“Let us seek to increase our sales so that we can keep our margins. We can keep our sales level up and keep our people employed,” he said.
“I sincerely believe that the commercial community can realize significant profits by increasing the volume of sales rather than seeking to attach exorbitant prices to products. In short, reduce prices.
By so doing, consumers will have more disposable income and increased power to purchase.” (MM)
