BWA cuts theft of old woman’s water

AN OLD WOMAN in Kew Road, Bank Hall, St Michael, should be reading a reduced water bill after an illegal connection on her property was shut off by the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) yesterday.
Through the illegal connection, the occupants of a nearby house were receiving water, a BWA representative said.
Apparently, the water in that rented house was turned off by the BWA early this year because of a water bill that ran into thousands of dollars.
A representative from BWA who was at the scene said: “The old lady complained that her water bill gone up and when Water Authority checked we realize an illegal connection [was there].”
The elderly woman was not at home when the SATURDAY SUN visited.
It was reported that the matter was now in the hands of the police.
