Barbados third in Goodwill

With 24 more medals on the final day, Barbados ended the 2011 Goodwill Swim Meet in third place with 75 medals – 25 gold, 22 silver and 28 bronze – and 1 085.5 points.
Suriname retained the Goodwill title with 1 425 points, leaving the host team Trinidad and Tobago to settle for second place with 1 415.5 points.
Barbados also claimed four of the ten age group champions, with three each going to Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago.
Danielle Titus was the division champion for the 8-and-under girls with 49 points, with Ashley Weekes taking third spot. Nkosi Dunwoody was also third in the boys’ section with 32 points
Rising to the top in the 9-10 age group were Kendi Bynoe with 73 points and Damon St Prix with 77 points, while Tiffany Titus was the top girl in the 11-12 age group with 69 points.
Jack Kirby took gold in the boys’ 9-10 100 SCM (short course) backstroke in 1 minute, 14.00 seconds, setting the mark for a meet record in this event and lowering the national record of 1:17.08 held by Damon St Prix. St Prix, on this occasion, clocked 1:16.81 in finishing third.
Later on in the meet, Kirby teamed up with Luis Sebastian Weekes, St Prix and Kobi Talma in the 200 SCM free relay to establish a new national record of 2:01.04.
The 9-10 girls also took gold in their relay in 2:07.48. 
Kendi Bynoe and St Prix reached the wall in 30:49 and 29:51 seconds, respectively in their 50 SCM freestyle and Destiny Harding was third in 30:83.
St Prix narrowly missed setting a new national record by .20 seconds. But Bynoe returned in the 100 SCM breaststroke to take the gold in 1:26.26, setting a mark for the meet. Weekes followed suit in the same event with 1:26.71 for the gold medal and the meet record.
Tiffany Titus of the girls’ 11-12 was second in the 100 SCM back in 1:15.06 and Rishonna Phillips, the lone 15-17 girl, also took silver in this age group in 1:17.01.
Danielle Titus won gold in the 50 SCM freestyle in 34.09, while teammate Ashley Weekes was second in 35:38.
The two joined Britney McCollin and Amethyst McKenzie for a second-place finish in the 200 SCM free relay in 2:29.83. Dunwoody was second in 50 SCM freestyle in 34:64.
Kai Proverbs slammed the field and also took gold for the 11-12 girls in the 100 SCM breaststroke in 1:25.29, hotly pursued by Tiffany Titus who came home in 1:26.22.
Gabriel Gunby was the final medallist for Barbados and took bronze in the 100 SCM breaststroke in 1:11.63.
