PRIVATE?EMPLOYERS?ARE?WITHIN their legal rights not to hire a person wearing tattoos.
But Government agencies could face discrimination lawsuits if they breach applicants’ constitutional rights.
This is the view of attorney Hal Gollop, who said private employers can set such terms as may be necessary for the running of their business.
Gollop’s comments came against the backdrop of a warning from a senior officer of the Barbados Defence Force (BDF), which is seeking to fill 50 vacancies, that visible tattoos could bar applicants under a 2009 policy.
